Neema Crafts - Tourism Visits

Come and Visit us At Neema Crafts Centre

We would love to see you here in Iringa. There is no better way to really grasp what we are all about than visiting us, having a tour round the building and meeting at talking with those who work here.

Neema Crafts Workshop acts as the UK fund raising base to support the work carried out by Neema Crafts Tanzania. It is a separate legal entity under it's own UK board of trustees.

We guarantee you will have a fascinating experience, both enjoyable and challenging. We hope we can open your eyes to a new side of Africa that many tourists miss out on.

Make time to spend at least hour or so with us to enjoy the café and shop as well as having a workshop tour. If you are more rushed, 20 minutes is enough for a tour.

If you are bringing a big group and would like lunch, do let us know in advance and we will be happy to take your food order before you arrive to save time and to reserve seating for you in our restaurant.

As well as enjoying the restaurant and shop, we also have the fastest and only virus free Internet Café in Iringa town making us the perfect stop off spot to update your blog or check your e-mails.

The Internet Cafe also hosts our tourist information centre giving information on local tourist opportunities, especially cultural tourism.

We can help you to visit and share chai with a local Masai or Hehe family accompanied by an English speaking member of the family who will translate for you. We can find good local guides to take you on guided walks around the town and to beautiful view points in the hills around the town and key points of interest in the local area. Isimilia Stone age site is a short distance from town and is one of the richest finds of stone age tools anywhere in the world and has a fantastic hike through amazing eroded columns in the nearby dry river gorge. Other sites include tours to see colonial era battle sites and the kalenga museum for those interested in more recent history. In 2010 an impressive freeze of prehistoric rock art was discovered on the outskirts of Iringa, we can arrange a visit to this site for you. We can also arrange village visits, an opportunity to visit and worship in a village church and stay over night. All this an much more is available through Neema Crafts.
